The 5 Most Powerful and Popular Wrestlers in the World

The world of wrestling has been in the limelight recently, thanks to the new series on Netflix called GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling).

The series gives fans an inside look at what it takes to be a pro wrestler, and it also reminds viewers that not only do you have to be strong, flexible and agile, you also have to have charisma if you want to succeed as a wrestler. With that in mind, here are the 5 most powerful and popular wrestlers in the world.

John Cena

Cena started his professional wrestling career in 1999 with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), where he held the UPW Heavyweight Championship once.

In 2000, Cena signed a developmental contract with WWE, and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) where he won the OVW Heavyweight Championship three times.

Brock Lesnar

Lesnar has won the WWE Championship three times, but he also enjoyed success before joining WWE. For example, he won an NCAA heavyweight wrestling championship while at the University of Minnesota.

He also competed in a UFC fight against Frank Mir. Lesnar holds other records that have never been matched, such as being one of two men ever to win both a UFC Championship and WWE title, as well as holding every major heavyweight title of every promotion he's participated with.

Roman Reigns

He is known for his powerhouse style, but Roman Reigns can use speed and quickness when necessary. He has an arsenal of moves to take down any opponent, including a clothesline that he calls spear.

Reigns is also known for his ability to get out of any hold or lock as soon as it is applied. His signature move is called the superman punch.

The Rock

Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock is an American actor and professional wrestler. The Rock is one of the most powerful wrestlers of all time, with a net worth of over $200 million.

He was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California. His father is Rocky Johnson and his mother is Ata Maivia. His grandfather Peter Maivia was also a wrestler.

Before becoming a wrestler, Dwayne played football for four years at Miami University before he decided to become a pro-wrestler instead.

His first wrestling match was for WWE (formerly WWF) against Shawn Michaels in 1996 at WrestleMania XII which he lost by submission.

Undertaker

The Undertaker, also known as Mark Calaway, is an American professional wrestler who has been called perhaps the greatest pure wrestler of all time by multiple wrestling observers. He has served as WWE's on-screen general manager since 2013.

Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) from 1984 to 1990 before signing with the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF). After debuting on November 26, 1990 under his old WCW nickname of Mean Mark, he made his WWF debut at 1991's Survivor Series as The Undertaker; however, it would not be until 1992 that he wrestled at WrestleMania VIII, defeating Hulk Hogan for his first WWF Championship.
