There are so many talented Korean singers out there right now, it’s almost hard to keep up with all the rising stars, established artists, and legends of K-Pop. But here are five Korean singers who you’re definitely going to want to get to know in the coming years—and why they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on!


1) IU

IU has always been a talented singer, and with the recent release of her song Twenty-Three she proved it once again. The song was released on June 27th of this year and became one of IU’s most successful singles. The song topped the charts and reached number 1 on various music sites. IU is without a doubt one of the best singers around and will continue to be for years to come.

IU is a great artist because she can do anything from soulful ballads to upbeat pop songs and everything in between. Her voice is powerful but also soft, which makes her perfect for any genre of music that she decides to sing.


2) Taeyeon

Taeyeon is a singer and actress, and member of the South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. She debuted as a singer with the release of her solo album I in October 2007. Her popularity increased after her song I Love You was featured on an episode of the popular drama series Secret Garden. Taeyeon is regarded as one of the most prominent female artists within South Korea, being noted as The Nation's Girl by media outlets. 

In January 2008, Taeyeon took part in her first television commercial for clothing company Tony Moly alongside fellow Girls' Generation member Sunny.


3) BTS

BTS was the first K-pop group to win a Billboard award. Their latest album, Love Yourself: Tear, broke the record for most album sales by a Korean act. They are known for their interesting music videos and attention-grabbing choreography. The group has seven members: RM (Rap Monster), Jin, J-hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook and Suga.


4) EXO

EXO is a South Korean-Chinese boy group based in Seoul, South Korea. The group debuted on April 8, 2012 with twelve members separated into two subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M, performing music in Korean and Mandarin respectively. 

EXO consists of twelve members; Xiumin (Kim Min Seok), Suho (Kim Joo Hyun), Chen (Kim Jong Dae), Lay (Zhang Yixing), Baekhyun (Byun Baek Hyun), Chanyeol (Park Chan Yeol), D.O.


5) Seventeen

Seventeen is a South Korean boy group formed by Pledis Entertainment. They made their debut on March 25, 2015, with the mini-album '17 Carat'. The group currently consists of thirteen members: Vernon, Seungkwan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, DK, Jeonghan and Mingyu who are known as Seventeen 1st Generation, Dongyoon and Yeonjung who are known as Seventeen 2nd Generation.
